Language Steps
This resource helps develop comprehension and expression in spoken language from a one- to a four-word level.
It can be used as a complete programme or to complement current input, aiming to increase the number of information-carrying words in an utterance.

Language Steps was designed to develop comprehension and expression in spoken language from a one- to a four-word level.
It is based on the Derbyshire Language Scheme principles and provides a photocopiable programme for SLTs, assistants, teachers, nursery nurses and parents to develop the number of information carrying words in an utterance. Vocabulary, basic concepts and grammar have been kept to a minimum.
It comprises of seven sections (1, 1-2, 2, 2-3, 3, 3-4 and 4 word levels), each consisting of session plans of suggested therapy/educational and homework activities.
A score sheet is provided with each section to enable accurate recording of a child's progress, useful to form part of their treatment notes or to contribute to their educational or care plan.
