WALC 11 Language for Home Activities

These activities retrain language and cognitive processing whilst focusing on housework tasks e.g. cleaning, appliances, home furnishings etc. and maintenance (requires use of higher level vocabulary - clients talk about practical topics such as car upkeep). 5 skill areas are targeted: Word finding (name words from associations/descriptions, compare items and lists); Organisation (unscramble words and sentences, choose words to complete paragraphs, sequence steps in a task and complete schedules); Categorisation (categorise and list, match items to categories and name categories); Reasoning (make deductions/exclusions, complete analogies, modify incongruities and evaluate information); Picture/Paragraph Comprehension (answer questions about pictures and comprehend information in paragraphs).
