YARC: York Assessment of Reading for Comprehension Complete Set (Primary & Early Years)

YARC - Primary & Early Years.

The YARC provides an in-depth analysis of reading and comprehension skills for children aged 4-16 years. It identifies specific problems with word recognition, reading fluency or reading comprehension and informs on the best and most appropriate interventions to support the individual.

• Can be used to assess and monitor ongoing pupil progression.
• Assess EAL pupils and those requiring extra time in examinations
• Informs educational planning and benchmarks against the national average
• Ideal tool to evidence the impact of Premium Pupil Spend
• Provides standard age scores, age equivalent scores and percentile ranks for comprehension, rate and fluency.
• Administration time: 20-30 minutes.
• Developed by a team of reading experts from the centre for Reading and Language at the University of York.

YARC includes a free online Score Conversion Tool. By inputting pupil details and raw score results into a simple template, all converted scores are computed immediately resulting in a simple, one-page report. There is a section for teachers and practitioners to include comments and observations too. Each programme has a help section that gives more information – for example about saving and correcting reports that have been generated.

The YARC diagnostic test is split into three parts: Early Years and Primary or Secondary tools. Choose the product relevant to your client/pupil group. This is the Primary and Early Years Set.

Complete Set Primary Contains – Early reading test material, Early reading manual, Early reading record forms (10), Passage reading primary test material, Passage reading primary manual and Passage reading primary record forms (10).

Assessment forms are available, in packs of 10 for Early Years (code 56820) and for Primary (56821).
